This was the inaugural year for the highly sought-after convertible body, and this is a nicely restored example that has a very correct look. It all makes this exceptional convertible in its own league of extraordinary. Something this significant also gets its details right. The trim is complete and brightly shining; the gaps are tight and uniform; and the doors have a smooth and confident action. And while K-code cars have a rarity by the handful, these convertibles are usually not so well equipped. So it makes this spec K-code convertible the kind of uniqueness that gets singled out by true enthusiasts. And besides, with the correct styled steel wheels and double redline tires coordinating with the paint, this car is not lacking speedy style. The red/white pony interior is arguably the most attractive package against the bold exterior red. Factory look AM/fm radio(non-working). This has the correct factory stick shift. That will be your favorite place for your right hand, and your left one will love the wood grain classic steering wheel. Beyond that is the desirable optional 7000 RPM Rally Pac tach and clock on the steering column. As much as you'll love the interior and exterior, it's the rare K-code HiPo 289 cubic-inch V8 under the hood that will impress even the most fickle Mustang enthusiast. It's the motor that took home the trophies around the globe, and so it's great to have it so well presented here. That's why you have nice details, like correct 1965 K-code castings for the four-barrel carburetor, intake, heads, and four-speed manual transmission (these items are correct for the car, but are not confirmed original.) The Ford nine-inch rear end is also right for the Hi-Po car, and it has versatile 3.31 positraction gears to give it plenty of punch around town but still cruises reasonably at highway speeds. It shows a detailed restoration, right down to the clean red oxide paint underneath. It's an impressive car.
