1957 Ford Thunderbird E Code This 1957 Thunderbird is a rare 'E code' (2x4 intake) example of the iconic Ford roadster. The Thunderbird was introduced as a sporty competitor to the Corvette and many say that the T'bird actually saved the 'Vette from extinction.
. All '57 Thunderbirds are equipped with an adjustable telescopic steering column, but most seem to be somewhat hesitant to co-operate as they age. There is also an AM radio, but it is currently inoperable. Horsepower is provided by an 'E code' Thunderbird 312ci engine fitted with dual Holley 4000 'T-pot' 4-barrel carbs, each said to flow 330cfm for a total of 660cfm. This engine was factory rated at 270hp and is backed by Ford's time-honored 2-speed Ford-O-Matic transmission.
